Fit-first clothing reviews

Find the size that fits before you check out.

We convert every brand's size chart into US, UK and EU, check it against the garment's published measurements and independent coverage, and give one plain call — size up, true to size, or size down — for womenswear, menswear, kids, shoes and activewear.

Ranges are typical, not universal. Vanity sizing and regional cuts move these by a full size — that is why every review lists the measurements it was tested on.

How a size chart becomes a verdict

Four steps, the same for every review

  1. Read the brand's size chart

Bust, waist, hip, rise and length in centimetres and inches, for every size range the brand offers.

  2. Check the garment's own measurements

Published product measurements and fit notes against the chart, including petite, tall and plus lines.

  3. Cross-check independent coverage

At least two sources, including independent editorial reviews, before we make a sizing call.

  4. Convert and decide

US, UK and EU equivalents, then one call: size up, true to size or size down.

Fit-room notes

Real measurements beside every opinion

A useful fit note always carries height, usual size and the size kept, so you can find the body closest to yours. The notes below show the format; they are illustrative examples, not reviews.

5'2"Usual UK 10Kept UK 8
Petite trousers finally hit my ankle instead of pooling. The regular 10 needed taking up two inches.
Example note format · petite womenswear
6'3"Usual XLKept XL Tall
Chest fit in the regular XL but the hem rode above my belt when I reached up. Tall length fixed it.
Example note format · big & tall menswear
5'6"Usual UK 20Kept UK 20
True to size at the hip, and the waistband didn't roll during squats — that's the bit I care about.
Example note format · plus sportswear

Sizing FAQ

Quick answers before you order

Why are US and UK women's sizes four apart?

UK sizes were drafted from a different base block, so a UK 12 usually lines up with a US 8. Shoes are different again: UK shoe sizes run roughly two below US women's.

Should I trust the label or the brand's chart?

The chart, every time — and then our review, which compares that chart with the garment's published measurements and independent coverage.

How do you handle stretch fabrics?

We note the elastane share from the product details and the brand's own fit notes. High-stretch knits often fit a size down; rigid denim rarely does.

Do affiliate links change your verdicts?

No. Some links earn a commission, but fit verdicts are written before any link is added and are never sold.

Between two sizes?

Send us your measurements. We'll convert them.
